But the concept is gradually gaining credibility, in much the same way that herbal medicine has gradually achieved mainstream acceptance. It is actually resurgence, or a rediscovery of often ancient beliefs in the powers of crystals or gemstones, that were often used as talismans, or amulets.  Native Americans, Egyptians, and the Chinese were only a few of the Ancients that believed  and utilized the healing abilities of stones and crystals in their day to day lives. Great kings were buried with crystals to protect them in their after life.

“In modern times, it used to be only “New Age” practitioners who believed in this,” Foster says. “The crystal jewelry they wore was very basic, usually a crystal on leather cord. But now the concept is much more widely endorsed – including by affluent people who want high-quality jewelry, and who commission me to design and produce it. I manage to incorporate the design elements that the client wants , as well as stones that relate to the clients’ specific therapeutic or esoteric desires.  They truly get an exclusive, personalized piece, like a signature perfume.   My pieces do more than just help people look good they more than ornamental, it helps them feel good too.”
